Qui Sommes-Nous?
Marie
Nicoletti grew up in a small town in the heart of the French Alps
in a bilingual French and Italian family setting. She began her culinary
apprenticeship when she was 8 years old, in an amazing after-school
program that focused on activities such as cooking, sewing, and home
decorating. She later attended a private school that promoted
responsibility by teaching cooking classes and proper nutrition, as
well as economics. She began working as a private chef when she was
16 over summer break and kept doing so through college and fashion
school. While in fashion school she started a cooking club with fellow
students and friends that gathered on a regular basis, the goal of
which was to impress each other with daring culinary exploits.
During
all these years she regularly traveled to Italy, her favorite destination.
Beginning
with the first cooking class she ever took, Marie has collected hundreds
of recipes, and is currently assembling her favorites into a bilingual
kid's cookbook.
After
graduating from fashion school in Paris, Marie entered the house of
fashion designer Yohji Yamamoto as the brand manager in Italy. Her
passion for cooking didn't stop, though, as she regularly catered
exquisite dinners exploring classic French cuisine.
After
Paris, Marie moved to Boulder, where she lived for 14 years and started The Language of Food in December 2000. She recently spent 3 years in Paris exploring food trends. The Language of Food continues to share its passion of French cooking, language and culture through teaching children in Colorado.
